Concrete planters can be messy when they are not effectively waterproofed. As plants are routinely hydrated, water passes through the concrete gradually causing moulds, damaging paint work and eventually weakening a once beautiful building.
It is this challenge that led W4W Kenya to be contracted to waterproof a prestigious building in Nairobi’s Yaya area.
The works involved preparing the surface by removing a previously installed bituminous coating that was no longer effective. This was done through a variety of methods including thorough scraping and cleaning.
After surface preparation, Fosroc Nitoproof 725 was evenly applied. The first coat was used to prime the surface before a final finish was applied.
Being UV, root and mould resistant, Nitoproof 725 is ideal for exposed roof tops, cool roofs, gutters and planters. Its excellent flexibility and crack bridging ability makes it an excellent choice for waterproofing exposed and trafficable spaces.
