Koipir Community Borehole Project

At W4W, we proudly lay claim to the title of being a “world class bush driller”. Since we started our operations in 2007, we have drilled over 300 boreholes in some of the most remote, marginalized and under-served areas of Kenya. We are always prepared to deploy our drilling team, are equipped with the necessary machinery and technology, have the necessary statutory qualifications, and our personnel is highly skilled in bringing much needed relief to people living in water stressed communities.

One such project was recently completed to serve the Koipir Community in Kaliya Village, Nakwijit Sub-location, Cherangan Location, Kodich Ward, Kacheliba Sub-County and in West Pokot County. The aim of the Koipir Community Borehole Project is to serve institutions surrounding the area, including, schools, a dispensary, church, market center, among others. This particular water project was prioritized in order to solve the perennial water problem in the area, and in turn mitigate the prevalent and frequent water related cases of diseases in the region.

The Koipir Community Borehole Project was proposed by the area’s Local Administration in collaboration with Koipir Community Representatives with the financial support being generously offered by Zoe Foundation. W4W was awarded the contract to drill the borehole.

Zoe Foundation in located in Milimani area of Kitale town in Trans-Nzoia County of Kenya. Zoe Foundation in part of the Zoe Ministries, a Christian organization formed in 2007 with the objective of sharing life through Christ to orphaned and vulnerable children through strategic orphan care initiatives. Zoe Foundation facilitates clean water wells, secure housing for widows, education enhancement, food security, and income generation in Kenya.

It took 2 days to mobilize the W4W drilling team, including making the 500km journey to Kaloiya Village from Nairobi. Drilling commenced on 12th May, 2023 and was completed on 14th May, 2023. Although the initial projected drilling depth was 240 meter, our team ended up drilling to a depth of 100 meters after striking three aquifers; one at 12 meters, another one at 24 meters  and the last one at 78 meters. The borehole yielded 3,700 liters of water per hour.

True to our slogan “Dignity in Life”, we once again got an opportunity to impact thousands of lives in West Pokot County through improved water quality, sanitation and better hygiene.

Prayers before drilling commenced: "Water has ears", the Local Pastor said before instructing everyone to kneel down and lay their hands on the ground, and commanded the earth to release water for the thirsty Community in the name of Jesus Christ.

There was joy in Koipir Village when the W4W team struck water, as it was literally, an answer to a prayer.
